We bought a Camry in December. After driving from Vermont to Florida, and back to Vermont another route, to dat, I have not seen a Gen 5 Prius. Not once. We have a fairly high volume dealer up the street, and I've never seen one around here either.

Was this all fake news?

interesting that he didn't try to adjust seat and wheel to see the whole display.

did they mention the average speed of the drive?

It was a designed mix, as I recall. A bit of everything.

An unconventional review of the Prius Prime. This reviewer looks at body panel gaps and paint thickness as a quality check. I guess the idea is if a car manufacturer can get that right, then it would hint at the rest of the car being well assembled.

Drive Unwisely and the 2023 Prius MPG Drops To This Low Value | Torque News

"The all-new 2023 Toyota Prius is fantastic. It is quick, fun to drive, really attractive to look at, and surprisingly roomy. Toyota’s new for 2023 infotainment system is perfect. Ideal. Exemplary. We are running out of good words to use. But if you don't mind your manners, what’s the real-world MPG? We torture-tested the new 2023 Prius to see how low we could force its MPG down. The result stunned us."

    Great article!

Similarly, they didn't do the mpg test that Jeremy Clarkson did, when he took the Gen II Prius onto an oval track for the entire tank - until it ran empty. If they truly wanted to show how poor a mileage you could get ... screw running all the seat heaters, you simply keep it floored.

Who would ever drive a car like that in a real life scenario? The data would be pointless IMO.

Of course! That was the point. The 400+ hp BMW M3 got 2 mpg better than the Prius doing that ridiculous stunt. But if you simply run AC and heater simultaneously and call that a test? ..... Really?
    ;)

Loading up the car and driving like a bat out of hell is the typical American driver I think. And I actually know a GAL who drives with the AC cranked and the seat warmers on in the summer. :ROFLMAO:

I actually would like to see how much better the mileage is on the Gen 5 Prius when it's continuously floored doing 115mph.
Gen II Prius was ~ 17mpg flooref iirc. The Gen 5? With its bigger/better ICE ? I bet gen 5 could easily do nearly 30 mpg - even in slushy rain!
    ;)

I do not think I'm going to be able to conduct that test lol, but somebody in here with a nice, desolate 5-mile stretch could. Just reset the "AVG MPG" gauge at 115 and done.

Marine Ray posted the June Sales rollup that listed qty 2666 2023 Prius Primes sold in the US to date, and qty 12,275 2023 Prius. Using a 2021 estimate of 101 Million non-truck vehicles on the road, the odds of seeing a 2023 Prius or Prius Prime would seem to be around 1 out of every 15,000 "cars" (perhaps 1 in 30k vehicles) you see when you are out and about.

I actually saw one in my area a month or so ago.
