Should I buy an extended warranty?

I'd skip it. On the rare occasion IF I do have a MAJOR issue, I'll fix it up reasonably, then I'll negotiate and trade up to a different car or newer Prius (if the experience was bitter enough). $4k+ for extended warranty on such an affordable car is utterly and absolutely ridiculous. I don't foresee the Prius having any major issues on the majority of them sold. This isn't some German high-tech car with an air-lifting suspension system with 10 different settings... Thank goodness it isn't.

If you were buying a car that was NOT known for excellent reliability, then I would get that warranty. I really would not spend the money to insure a well maintained Prius. The other thing, I never buy used cars, always new. I also do my own maintenance, and am quite OCD when it comes to my vehicles.
