They are gloss black, same five spoke design as the silver hubcaps. What was the point?

 

mine are silver and so much better looking than the hubcaps

I recall that Prius Chat (PC) members that emailed Toyota got back short explanations stating the wheel covers (hubcaps) are there to decreased aerodynamic drag leading to better MPG. That didn't seem to be any/very much to improve on for the nice allow wheels under some of the wheel covers. It is just hard to imagine any minute drag reduction not getting lost to the extra weight.

It is still is a mystery to me, but I say take them off if you have nice wheels underneath. Then you can sell them or keep them just in case?

 

My point: Why wheel covers over (black or silver) alloys?

Explained above as for aero gains -- I'm from Missouri on that one. Moon covers, yeah. These? Not so much.

 

Have you found the hidden shelf down behind the rear seats? At least one more putter/umbrella ca go there
