Same as OP, I was told the cost was due to it being a two day job because of the amount of disassembly to gain access to the area.
I got hit with this yesterday. Quoted $1600 for the job. I'm confident the shop isn't jacking me and they did say it wasn't critical to fix this...

OK, I figured out my problem. I needed to complete the steps faster! The manual says you have 20 seconds to complete the steps but mine wouldn't...
