There are always production tolerances on every thing humans make. I would suspect that might be as much as + or - 0.2 gal and maybe more, so...
It really is not a good idea to run the fuel injection system out of gas, but I have done the same I.e. gone 40 miles past the last bar going...
I find it difficult to hold speed at the speed limit, so I just give into to the speed control and keep a look out for motorcycles, cars pulling...
