I have actually attempted to run over the squirrels, but they manage to run away at the last second.
I'm using 1/2". Fits perfectly. Don't need any tape to hold it in place.

I do the same. I drive about 28 miles to work, no highway. If I took the highway, it would be the same distance anyway. Google Maps has been great.
