I took off the silver inserts and sanded them. Sprayed them gloss black. Didn’t come out as good as I would like. Ended up ordering new black...
Same thing happened to my 2017 wheels. The silver plastic parts are cheap junk. I can order black replacement pieces. The wheel has to come off...

Update: I ordered the replacements and it looks like a new one! Have to replace the silver wheel inserts next.
No. Hand washes only.
I never use car washes. Mine gets hand washed only. The sun is brutal on the back side panels. I’ve seen several peeling away like mine have.
The Gen 3 drove like a model T. The Gen 4 Touring 4 is superior in ride and comfort. Mileage is much better too!

I have 2017 touring 4. Hubcaps look like garbage and I still have the peeling rear quarter panels. Thanks Toyota!
