I replaced it this afternoon. $231.71 + tax. OEM from Toyota. I was right, it was only 75% charged and filled up to show 14.2 miles. More recently it has maxed out at 9.8. I drove 11.5 very cautious miles now before the ICE came on. 40°, snow tires, max 45 mph. I want to believe it went a bit further than what it has the past month or two, but that is probably not the case.

You’re talking about your plug-in Prius hybrid battery displayed charge, and range estimate? Not sure that correlates to the 12 volt battery replacement. If you didn’t use a memory saver during the replacement the displays will revert to defaults if I’m not mistaken; that could be what you’re experiencing.

Mendel Leisk, exactly. I had read on some other threads where at least one person was claiming to get more actual miles after dis- and re-connecting his 12v battery and so does that occasionally. That would be nice, but I don't think it is the case.

Is the 12V battery on a 2013 PIP sealed or should I be checking the levels?

The stock battery is an Absorbent Glass Mat style, not readily fillable, and I don’t think necessary either.

IF......it has the original battery, you are likely due for a replacement.
7 years is a good run but it won't last forever.
    Especially if not used much.

Un-checkable and unfillable except maybe with a syringe through the vent. Maybe. I cut open a dead AGM battery from a UPS one time. No lead plates and no liquid acid (or any other liquid) came out of it.

    That is a misleading statement.
AGM is just a special variety of a lead-acid battery.
There IS lead and acid in there. Has to be to work.
