I just bought a used Gold Certified 2020 Prius Prime, with 76K miles. Learning curve should be faster going from 2010 Prius to Prius Prime.

Thanks for your comment. I'm a retired Family Practice physician myself. My left shoulder is just about completely healed now. Just time for some PT to tone up the muscles again. Regards, Robert S Williams, MD

Mendel, I've been on here for years and have benefited tremendously from your sage input and generous sharing. Thank you so much for all of your outstanding contributions over these years. Because of you (and others....but I have learned to certainly trust you) I've become quite a decent DYI'er on my 2013 Lexus CT200h.

WOW, Mr. Sdolla86 ! One of my pen names is PopCorkOff. I live in Sebring, and just this morning my 2013 Prius gen 3 blew coolant fog out of the exhaust AND my water level is low and the oil is milky so there is NO Doubt i have a blown head gasket. So maybe Mr. "Go To" will help me know where to buy a head gasket kit to repair it.

I did engine overhaul in high school back in about 1957. Now I have new brakes, new tires, newly wheels alignment, and only 203,000 miles on it ! I had 260K on our '05 Prius when it started oil-fouling #3 plug.

This fouled #1 plug last Friday Aug 23, and I changed the plugs on the 24th. No improvement. We drove it about 10 miles - should have checked the coolant reservoir.

How are you doing on your fix ? I met a fellow Chat member who lives near Ft. Lauderdale - Dave; he encouraged me on my brakes master cylinder, AND he had to put in a new head gasked in his car. WE CAN DO THIS ! ! !

I have noticed great mpg performance. I did have to add a larger intake and larger fuel injectors for it to run correctly. But so far running without major issues for months

Hi! I saw on a thread that you used a 2013 headunit (86140-47050) and put it into a base level 2010 Prius (the one without the screen). Is that what you did? If so, I'd love to do the same and would love to hear about your experience! They aren't too expensive on ebay and would be a great upgrade to my car. THanks so much for your help!

Wondering if it would help to take the ring off from around the coolant cap, so it doesn't seal? I've read where they say it takes the pressure off the coolant system and gives you more time to avoid damage. You think that's worthwhile?

removing the O-ring off coolant cap greatly reduces the ability of the system to cool the engine because the increased pressure with the seal raises the boiling point of the fluid which is a very good thing. Some remove the ring or just dont tighten the cap in early stages of head gasket failure to prevent the cylinder from filling with fluid after a drive.

Ah that's unfortunate You are in the Northeast That's where I hail from many years ago before I move south without a garage in the furthest part of the Northeast like upstate New York and places these cars are 3 to 5-year cars if you have a garage and the car doesn't sit out a lot and you're able to take care of it you could last 10 to 15 years in those same condition
