Pros and Cons of Extended Warranty Purchase

Nothing here so I'll give my 2 cents worth... the Pros, simple - you get most issues fixed for free. The Con's.. the cost. I got my Prius 8yr/75K mile extended warranty for $800 - in CA, and it was like pulling teeth. I wanted to get a 10/100K but no way, too expensive. I will get another extended warranty if I can get it for $800 again.. but will try for a 8yr/100K mile, but doubt I'll get that. The simple fact, those that have the EW like it if they have issues, and think it's a rip-off if they don't need to use it or paid too much. I just had Recall work done on my 2007 Prius - the Hybrid Water Pump.. the 'dealer' found the other water pump leaking, called me, said it was covered under my extended warranty, and I was very happy. If it was not covered, I'd be under the car now taking the water pump out as I would not pay the dealer to do it, much too expensive.
