10-11 seconds was pretty snappy back in the 70s. Now we've become jaded.

On a more practical level, I just passed a dawdler on the way back from a meeting. I didn't use a stopwatch, but it seemed like 35-55 in EV was about 2.5 seconds. More than adequate for my needs.

 

For me, the 0-60 time would be infinity for most of my daily drive. I never reach 60mph on my regular route.

 

I seem to recall hearing it was peppier in straight electric?

 

It seems more responsive, but I think that's just low end torque with the electric motors. I remember seeing those 10 and 11 second numbers, too.

 

Ok just more punchy at the start.

If you're worried about this maybe you got the wrong car. Anyway I drive a Ford fusion at work and it's assas as the Prius Prime, it gets 29MPG highway and is a piece of s.....

 

I attended a conference where one talk was about plug-in hybrids. There was a chart of 0-60 times and the Prius Prime was the slowest of all of the vehicles at 11 seconds. The Porsche Taycan was fastest at 2.6 secs but Tesla Model S ranged from 2.4 -3.7 secs. On the other hand, MPGe for Prime was 133. The Taycan’s MPGe was 69 and that for Tesla S was 110. Tesla 3 has the best balance with 0-60 of 3.2-5.3 secs and MPGe of 113-141.

The speaker sort of belittled the Prime, based on the 0-60. I had seen the numbers before test-driving the Prime and so expected to be underwhelmed when I drove it. But I was surprised to find the acceleration perfectly adequate for me and, oh, so quiet. Plus, I just couldn’t get past the limitations of electric range for an all-electric car, especially in a Minnesota winter.

 

Ever have someone tell you something, and the best you can muster is "huh, that's nice...".

 

Just got home from a Tesla showroom where I took a test drive in a new Tesla Model S Performance. The private owner allowed me to try it in "Ludicrous+ mode" (not warp), OMG, that's serious serious acceleration. Not that I'd ever "use" it that way . . . .

I'm ruined. Telsa even allows you to view your album art while DRIVING the car. LOL.Toyota, are you listening?

i would never know, gotta be eco friendly and not waste gas.

 

I knew the 0-60 was super slow, but I was actually impressed with the 0-30/40 of it in pure EV mode. Don’t know the official numbers but usually can leave those bumper huggers behind if I want some space in town.

 

0-60 in 10~12 seconds is "super slow"? Am I on Priuschat??
