we're at the epicenter. der are beautiful, but i would rather see them somewhere besides my yard.

I wonder how the pre-collision system works on deer. The white-tailed deer kills more people every year in North America than any other animal.

 

I guess the novelty of seeing a plug-in hybrid had worn off

It should with exceptionally well. My fist experience with it in my Prius PHV was with a wild turkey.

 

In the case of a fast moving deer it may not always prevent a collision, but it will hopefully reduce the impact speed which can make a difference in the amount of damage to the vehicle and potential injury to the car occupants. Also I am guessing that this would actually be pedestrian detection not pre-collision, which I realize is using the same sensors but I assume different software algorithms

Around here, the joke is that you can tell the tourists because they are the ones taking pictures of the deer. They are just overgrown city rats around here.



They don't even move for the garage door, cars directly infront of them, or for people. Those deer above are part of one of the herds that sleep on my lawn every day. They eat the flowers and vegetable garden and that's about it...
