Anyone understand this? Certainly XM doesn't. I received an invoice well in advance of the expiry of the trial period. It quoted the package prices in the body of the letter for 3 months, 12 months, etc. In a pay slip at the bottom it quoted amounts for the same periods all substantially higher. So I phoned to be told by a rep that he could explain the difference. i was about to decide not to bother at all when I asked what would the price if I paid right then. he came up with yet another set of prices all substantially lower than even the lowest of the invoice amounts. As an example, the invoice on the pay slip demanded $226 for a year including traffic. In the text it had quoted $190 for the whole package. Over the phone I was quoted $164.
What concerns me is whether anyone has paid any of the amounts demanded in the invoice, i.e., !75 for a year without traffic or $226 with it.

I just got another mail from XM for a subscription, as my trial runs out in 2 days. I'm not going to subscribe, but that is very interesting about the pricing...

I got the letter as well but didn't read it close enough to check all the numbers.

But yesterday I had to take a trip to Oakland (I-880) during rush hour and they almost sold me on the traffic part of it. I knew that the freeways come up with a green line when traffic is OK, yellow for slow, etc. What I didn't know was that when I put in my destination that the Nav voice came on, numerous times, warning me of slow traffic ahead on my route up to (at least) 20 miles ahead.

I got 65 mpg for the round trip (probably would have been less if I could have gone 60+ mph the whole way).

The fine print says the bottom number includes other fees and taxes if applicable. I guess if it's different between states they need to show both prices but they could have made it a little easier to understand.

If those fees are the new royalty fee and it's the same for everyone then showing the lower price seems stupid.

When I got my car a couple of weeks ago, I did a search and saw a thread in here where some folks were able to talk them down to $77 for a year (plus the new music royalty fee). I don't know if this is still possible...has anyone had success with this lately?

I just renewed for $77 (kind of) today. I called the number that others have posted on Prius Chat. I asked for the lowest price, for a year, that they had. She quoted $142.45. I said that I had heard that I could get it cheaper. She asked what I had heard, I said $77 ... she said that she could match the $77 if I paid it all up front.
As to the "kind of" I mentioned ... its $77 + $11 for the new internet fee + tax. Came out to be about $94

I bought a cheap (but good) Sansa Fuse with 8g/expandable to 16g and purchased SlotRadio cards in my favorite genres. It's more than enough to keep me amused for a few years and cost less than one year of XM (not a Howard Stern fan so I don't need Sirius)

This is without traffic, right? Another $3.99 per month if you want the traffic?

Not really. $175 will get your 175 or less songs. That's less than 8 and a half hours of entertainment. I'd rather pay the yearly fee for XM radio and get all my good talk radio and all the music I want. I spend way more than 8 hours driving a year :)

I have a question about using the XM to listen to ball games when I travel on Sundays. Is there an easy way to find out if the game I want to listen to is on one of the channels? Is there a guide I can look at before I leave? If I stand a better chance of finding my ball game with XM, then I might consider it.

I have not had XM since before the merger. I cancelled it when Pandora for the iPhone came out. Sorry - Back to your question.

Back in early 2008 on the XM site they had a seperate page for each channel where you could view it's schedule. You could also search from the home page once you logged in for content. You may be able to find the games one of those ways.

    Best of luck!

There is a single channel that regularly broadcasts the day's games and the channel on which each will be played. I don't recall which channel it is, but I'm certain it would be listed on XM's website.

Traffic is $3.99/month with an audio subscription. And there are no multi-anything discounts. That is, a month, a quarter, a year, two years pre-paid still breaks down to $3.99 a month.

IIRC it's 177. You can check on the web site for a listing as well.

You simply can't tear my XM from my hands, dash house whatever.

I have XM pumped into 6 zones in my house by a Russound whole house audio system. I also have a Sony 200 CD player hooked up to it as well as 1 computer. I paid for a lifetime subscription.

My sub subscriptions are in my dads house and 4 other vehicles. I will terminate the one from my wifes van (it's in my trans am now) and add her Prius when the trial is up.

I pay for more than one year at a time so I get a decent price for all the extras.

I could hook up my mp3 player but I prefer to surf XM.

    and I hate local radio.

I just got my MyFi running again. They claimed my annual renewal will be $142, but I am going to cancel it if they don't give me the $70/yr deal again. The service had gone down since the merger with Sirius, the comedy channels aren't as funny and the music channels are crap. With all that said, everything on FM sucks!

Thanks. Not really interested in anything but the traffic, and only if I can get it cheap. Looks like it's possible to get a combo price that's the same as the $10 per month traffic-only price, but it's probably still more than I'm willing to spend.

Are you talking MLB or NFL? If you want football, you'll need to add on the Best of Sirius package. NFL isn't included in the basic XM lineup.
