Xenentech 6000k hids are total PNP for $40

BTDT with that Xentech crap.
See you in six months when you've replaced at least one bulb and one ballast. I'm not a fan of overpaying for the Xenon Supply kit, but you just got one of the least reliable xenon kits I've ever used.
I agree... don't waste your money.

 

All xenon kits are hit and misses, I've seen some cheap brand lasts for years and some expansive ones last for months, so your play with luck when buying any aftermarket xenon kits.

 

For just under forty bucks with shipping (Amazon Prime) these will be going on my 2010 Prius III and will let you know how it goes. My commute to work is 63 miles in the dark (about 3am most times of the year). Have been using Philips CrystalVision on both my low (H11) and high (HB3 or 9005) beams and like them much better than OEM. That is except for the fact they burn out far quicker than OEM or stock lights. On average a bulbs is lasting about six months, sometimes much less. The OEM's H11 lasted over 2 years. If it weren't for the deer (almost hit many times, thankfully easy to spot) and racoons (three hit in three years, average damage is well over $1000, the last one $1800 and change) I would stick with stock OEM equivalent bulbs. Philips CrystalVisions H11's are running $31.04 a pair right now with shipping (Amazon Prime) so for me it worth a try to improve my night driving vision and isn't that what this is really about?

 

i agree it's all a crap shoot i would put the cheapest kit in that i could get that $40 thats a good deal right there

 

Hello again. XenenTech HID PNP kit arrived today.

First impressions are it is a nice looking kit. Installation took me exactly 35 minutes with a little extra time for double and triple checking everything. Confident that if I like these after driving at night a few weeks I can install in wife's 2013 Prius in 15 minutes or less. What I really like about this kit is that if there is a problem I can pull out the HID bulbs disconnect the lead from the factory bulb connector and reinstall original bulbs in a couple of minutes. No cutting, splicing, soldering has taken place to affect the factory parts, either to the electrical leads or projector housing. Bulbs fit into the housing with zero problems. I checked the HID bulb side by side with the standard bulb and the bulge in the HID bulb where the light emits from is spot on where the filament of the standard bulb is. Which is good I think.

The only guessing involved was the adapter to the factory lead involves inserting two wires into the adapter and hope they light up. I must have guessed right on the first one as it lit up on testing. So I did the second side exactly the same. As a reference for anyone out there who wants to install this set on your Prius; if you hold the adapters face towards you with the clip facing up, put the BLACK lead on the left side.

As a side note I mistakenly ordered the 6000k kit instead of the 5000k. At first I thought Amazon or the supplier had goofed but looking at my order it was me who messed up. They are very white compared to the Philips CrystalVisions in the High beams. Going to check into ordering a set of bulbs in either 5000k or 4300k and what they cost.

Looking forward to my drive to work tomorrow which is saying something. Will report back in a few days or a week on my impressions of driving with them in the dark. If they flicker or die on me you will hear back sooner.

Will gladly answer any questions about the install anyone might have.

 

Wow it's been over two weeks since putting these XenTech HID's in my 2010 Prius and no problems. We have had a couple of snow events up here already and I like the way these lights illuminate. Haven't had any flicker or burnt out bulbs or ballasts, zero issues. Did buy a spare set of 6000k bulbs and also a set of 4300k to have on hand. The spare bulbs are very reasonable at $14.89 a pair which include the $.90 shipping fee. Would do this install again.

A lot of times the super cheap bulbs vary in actual Kelvin rating. So a set of 4300K and 5000K look the same or you'll get one 4300K and one 5000K regardless of what you ordered. This happened to me and recently to a buddy who put a $40 PNP kit in his Camry. One yellow bulb and one white bulb. lol
