    My first post guys.

I am getting a certified 2008 prius + pkg #4 with ~6500 miles for $22995 without any taxes etc. is this a good deal?

I am concerned about the 90 day warranty vs the 3 year base warranty that comes a with new car. Also, I am not sure if I will be getting a 8 year battery warranty.

    Thanks for all your feedback.

    Cheers.

I finally got mine after a 6 month wait paid MSRP
PKG 6. Most dealerships wanted well over MSRP but A1 Toyota finally came through for me.

If you live in CT no Sales Taxes.

I am thinking about trading in for 2010 can anyone tell me if i can get lower than MSRP now and how much can i expect my 2009 to depreciation?

    hybrid_h,

I thought Toyota certified used cars carried at least the balance of the factory warranty, but I may be wrong. Sounds to me like your deal is just the typical corner used car lot (certified by the corner hot dog vendor if it only carries a 90 day warranty). I second p1cfl01's advice about buying new [& when you do buy new you'll surely get the full hybrid component/battery warranty you're worried about (which for you in NY won't be the 8-yr/100,000 mile warranty but will be 10-yrs/150,000 miles instead)].

    rootcanal1,

What in the world are you thinking!! You just waited 6 months (as I did for my 2005 Prius) & you want to dump it already for a 2010? I don't think you will get what you paid for it as there seems to be an abundant supply (if not over-supply) now. Even if you did order in June or July (when the supply was tight), you should have gotten your car a month or two ago (with all the un-sold Priuses that have been around here for about that long).

Unless you got your name on a 2010 list a long time ago, you will probably have an even longer than 6 month wait for one of those babies. AND probably you'll be dealing with some of the bugs or gremlins that always seem to come with a new production model. AND since so many people have been waiting for the long-awaited new model, the dealers will probably start asking a $2,000 to $5,000 premium again due to the high demand & initial tight supply. You've got a well-proven & matured vehicle now that had all the "bugs" pretty much worked out by early 2005. Why jump that ship & take a gamble for the new one?

One more thing : When I saw the Connecticut state tax law (exemtping the Prius (& a few other hybrids) from the sales tax, it was to have been effective from Oct 1, 2004 through Oct 1, 2008. Was the law revised to extend the ending date, or since you ordered before that expiration date, did the dealer also consider the transaction completed at that same time (to apply the "no sales tax required") even though you hadn't taken delivery until now? Interesting! I know to get the Federal tax credit that the Prius used to have, the car had to be registered & put into use before the deadline (not just ordered).
