Sitting at a stoplight in the rain the other night, I switched the windshield wipers to "high" and the car starts doing a little dance in time with the "froompa-froompa-froompa!!" beat of the wipers!

A little disconcerting! Are the wipers that heavy, or the car that light that the wiper inertia can get the car wiggling??? Kind of a "tail wagging the dog" sort of thing.

Now, I'm afraid to put wipers on "high" at freeway speeds, car might spin out!

Just me? Anyone else experienced this?

    TadMoody,

I have detected a little of this but fear not! You will not spin out. I recalled this back from my 2002 Prius as well, I believe it may have to do with the size of the Arms for the wipers, but it will not have any impact..rest assured.

I find the 2010 to be better, but as you mentioned you were at a stop and once the car is at highway speeds the aerodynamics make that negligable if even noticeable.

My Honda Civic did something similar at a stop but I think they also had a larger mass to the wiper housing and arms, so I never gave it another thought....and didn't notice that when driving the Civic as well. Keep enjoying the car. You should be just fine.:)

I've never noticed when having them on full speed. I have a V with 17s, not sure if that make a bit of difference. I'll need to pay more attention.

You want Swing & Sway with wipers - I had 2 Mercedes - a 200 & 300 with single articulating blade. Even medium speed - at a stoplight, easily felt. Put it on high and the whole car would jiggle.

ya with the rain here in los angeles i got to use the wipers for the first time ,after having the car for four months. I hear a click, click sound coming from the dash every time the wipers come down and go up.i have never had this in any other car,or may be i dint hear it over the sound of the ICE.

My wipers shake as well on the lower left handside, and make annoying noises. They are just not smooth. I think the Prius Team would have an easier time in marketing if Toyota would stop slacking on all the small details.

Don't have an issue at all with our wipers. I do like that the driver's side is articulation (as a Lexus) to cover more area.

For your folks in snow and ice regions - wonder how satisfied you will be with them over the next 5 months or so?

Be sure to let you know...that's coming soon I have a feeling ;) But will be sure to let you know once it does....I hope they are good. I am not buying winter blades this first winter...I only had the car 1.5 months...so far.
