A month ago, my battery went down to zero power. I had to use a trickle charger to bring it up to were my battery charger. Could take over. This finally got solved today. I had seen someone post this before on Priuschat but I wasn’t registered at that time. Tampa Hybrids Todd said he believed it would be the battery. Battery- two years old, took it back to AutoZone they checked the battery was charged partly with my car running. But then at my suggestion I said check the voltage and it was only 7 V. Battery was replaced at no charge after two years. I would recommend this to anyone that has my same problem. Come out in the morning and do everything. You can press the brake pedal to the floor trying to get it to wake up and going through three or four times before finally you’re able to get it going up. It was low-voltage battery had to be replaced. It’s possibly from me allowing it at one time —- leaving something on that took all the voltage out of the battery. Jumping, it didn’t solve the problem. Thank you so much for whoever posted on Priuschat to give me an idea.

Get a cheap digital multimeter and you can check the voltage yourself. First thing in the morning is a good time. This'll give you a rough idea. An AGM battery (Absorbent Glass Mat, what Toyota uses for batteries in the cabin), anything 12.6 volts or higher is in good shape. 12.4~12.6 volts is so-so. Lower than that, regularly, it's time to replace.

For a better assessment there are electronic testers that test Cold Cranking Amps (CCA), With those you typically need to connect directly to the battery posts, and input some data about your battery's type and specs.

Even easier is the voltage readout on the head unit display. You do the diagnostic entry steps with the car in Accessory mode, not in the On or Ready modes so that the 12v battery is not being charged by the hybrid system.

Realtime 12v Battery Voltage in Off or Running State
Check out your battery status/charging system by using the MFD Service Menu.

1 Press the Start button without the brake pedal.

2 Press and hold the "CAR" button* on the MFD while turning the headlights on and off 4 times.

3 Press "Function Check / Setting" field on the screen.
-Function Check / Setting menu will appear.

    4 Press "Vehicle Signal" .
-Vehicle Signal Check Mode" screen will appear, showing

    Battery 12.2v ---------SPEED 0 Km/h
    IG OFF ---------------TAIL OFF
    PKB ON --------------ADIM/TCAN BRIGHT
    REV OFF

The 12v battery voltage is shown and changes as load changes. Go to Ready and the 12v will rise.

Shutdown the car to return mfd to normal although it can be driven this way.
