I've added a SatNav to my collection of toys for my Prius (didn't get one in the package) and now I want to add the external antenna because receiption is spotty on occasion.

The SatNav is a Magellan so the GPS antenna is fairly small and low profile. I am thinking of putting it in the free space between the hatchback door and the door frame. The hatchback door at that point is plastic and if it doesn't work out then I'll just move it to the roof in the area behind the radio antenna. At the top of the hatchback door frame between the two rubber cable boots there appears to be enough room. My question is, "Does anyone have informatoin on the cable routing path from where the two "boots" go into the body to whereever the cables emerge?"

I'd like to be able to route the SatNav external antenna cable along this same path if its possible.

    Thanks.

Y'know, I thought I'd answered this last night, but evidently it
didn't get posted... anyway, you might do just as well to mount
the antenna on the dash somewhere ahead of the MFD bump, because
the windshield allows a *very* good view of the sky from there.
My little garmin unit does just fine with the built-in antenna, not
even quite at the optimal angle when it's sitting in its cradle
just to the left of the MFD.

    I agree.
The factory GPS antenna is located in the dash between the MFD and the windshield.

That's where I have the SatNav unit and it is dropping out or has problems acquiring the Sat when its cloudy.

The wire routing I'm really looking for is from the hatchback frame forward to the dash area. Since there are airbags in the overhead area I figure its not a good idea to run it there so I'm looking for a recommendation from someone that might have done something similar.

    Thanks.
