Why is it required to tap the left and right speaker for the sub output? Don't subs run off a mono signal? I currently tapped into the driver side wires behind the seatbelt and split them. Before I go through the Hassle of the other side I was just curious!

    Thanks

The bass isn't always evenly split between the L and R channels. Combining the two channels, even though the output is monaural is the solution.

Remember also, that low frequencies are non directional, so it can be monaural. ;)
