    Hello,

Has anyone been able to connect a hardwiring kit to the fuse box of a gen 5? If so, which fuses did you tap into for continuous power and ACC ON?

    Thanks!

Don't know if the fusebox on the prime/non prime are similar, but here's what I used on my 2023 Prius Prime XSE with success.

    5A Dome = Battery Power
    10A USB No. 2 = Accessory Power

I am reading on Reddit that people are having failed 12v batteries. I am expecting hardwiring to increase its possibility further. How is it going for you?

I wouldn't connect a dash cam directly to the 12V battery. Mine is only on while the car is in Ready mode. Some have a small built-in battery that allows the dashcam to stay on for some times after the car is powered off though. But directly to the battery? Nah, bad idea.

There's always a possibility of draining your 12 volt due to faulty installation and/or not setting a low power cutoff on the hardwire adapter itself (I'm assuming you know what I'm referring to.)

As you know, the 12V lead acid could be irreparably damaged if discharged below 50%, by usage, or simply left alone without use for extended periods of time, so treat it wisely.

Mine has been just fine, I think in part thanks to the car topping the 12V every time I charge the traction battery.

What you're thinking of, are dash cams with internal LiPo batteries that are prone to bursting or failing in whichever climate you use them in. The majority of the market have long moved on to capacitor based cameras that don't suffer any of those fail points, the only thing missing is of course, what you pointed to, the ability to stay on for about 10 seconds after the car turns off.

Or, one can simply run the camera how the manufacturer intended, using a USB cable straight to the camera and just have it recording while we're moving.
