where is the ecu immoblizer located on a 01 prius

    hi i need to find out where the ecu immoblizer is located on a 01 prius can some one help please.. need to get this send to my locksmith to reflash.. i lost my key.. so it needs to be reset and then reprogrammed with a new key.

    Even the illustrations in the service manual are a little vague here. It looks to be above the steering column, maybe near where the driver's side central vent is but deeper in the instrument panel. A single 12-position, two-row electrical connector attaches to it, which might help in telling it apart from other electrical boxes nearby. I don't know whether it's accessible without dash removal.

    #3 looks like the "body ECU" (which is attached to the fuse panel/junction block at the left end of the instrument panel).

    The transponder key ECU doesn't seem to be shown in that image.
