When will Toyota start shipping 2011 Prius?

Anyone know what month the 2011's will be at dealers? Want to time the selling of my car with purchasing a 2011 Prius.

I understand that the accelerator pedal is different in the Prius then those in the Camry - perhaps due to being built in Japan - so no issue in the Prius.

However I thought Toyota would resolve the Prius braking software bugs in the 2011 models - that's why I want to avoid the 2010. Do you know if it will be resolved in 2011 or no sooner then the 2012's? Unfortunately I can't wait until 2012 models are out - so I would have to select another model or marque.

    Thanks for any advice.

As far as I know the breaking softer has been updated on Prii produced sometime in Jan., so current cars are produced with updated software ( not that it needed updating, but don't start me on that LOL). Usually the new models start arriving in the US in Oct. or Nov. if memory serves me right.

I would imagine they will introduce the 2011 sooner rather than later .... to put the "bad press" of the 2010 behind them ..... even if the cars are virtually identical. That said, I have really enjoyed my 2010. I have been delighted with every aspect of the car, the technology, the economy, the comfort, and I like the interior design. I have absolutely no regrets.

As previously stated, the ABS software fix was put in production cars in January.

Regarding 2011 models, my guess is initial production September, and arrival at dealers Oct/Nov. Just a guess ;):

when I bought my 2004 Gen II Prius, I ordered it, and waited for the first delivery, on the east coast that was on October 30th, 2003, so usual time frame in the past is the end of October, however, don't expect anything different on the 2011, the 2nd year of a new generation typically has almost no changes from the first year

That said, the 2011 Camry's are already out at Toyota dealers, went to my usual dealer yesterday with mom, and she bought a 2010 Camry XLE, as they have 0% financing on the remaining 2010 model years, and the only differences seems to be the adoption of the Prius smart key technology, and a few other bells and whistles, and about a $3K increase in the price (as most of the 2011 XLE's only seem to come with navigation)

My mother would have agreed with you, waiting for the second year of a new model.

That said, I agree with the folks above, that the brake issue has been resolved--I believed it was a real but minor problem--and have noticed that the fix has made it better. I also agree that the gas pedal problem belonged to other Toyota cars.

Beyond this: Some of the folks on this forum who are much more knowledgeable than I am have pointed out that Toyota uses "rolling" improvements--for example, it did not wait for the new model year to improve the brakes.

What I don't think we know is what pricing for the 2011's will be like. Many folks on this forum have gotten recent deals which seem quite good to me--significantly better than I got last November for example. So you might want to think about that.

Historically the Prius MY starts in the Fall after their national holidays. I don't believe the 2011 will appear any sooner as the market is still depressed. Don't expect any changes beyond the colors. The 2010 has the advantage of being on sale longer than any other MY so it will hold the title of "Most Popular".

I bought all 3 Prii from the same dealer, used to be called "Toyota of Weymouth", now they are called "Toyota of Braintree", they built a huge new building on the site of the old Valleys Steak house (more recently it was the Hilltop Steakhouse). I always get a pretty good deal from them, and their service is ok... I beat them up pretty well, I asked about some free service for Mom's new car, they came through with 2 year/or 25,000 miles free oil changes, and we got nearly $1K off the price as well (on the new 2010 Camry XLE she bought)

My wife Teresa has a 2007 prius she bought new, and wants a 2011. We rented a 2010 and she loved it, but wants a "new" car, not one a year old when we drive it off the lot. Sounds like she wants to do the same thing...sell her car just as/before the 2011's come out. Hey what is a 2007, loaded, with 23k miles and a 7/70 warranty worth...ballpark?

Totally depends. As a guesstimate, maybe $16,000 - $17,000 on a private sale if it is in pristine condition and loaded as you say, navi, leather and all. On a trade, you'd probably be lucky to get $12,500-$13,500, maybe even less, they kill you on trades but you only pay tax on the difference between your trade value and the price of the new car.

And that's now. Once the 2011's are out or damn near out, the 07 prices will naturally go down. I guess for a private sale though, it's what you can get out of someone... On a trade in, if it's that close to the 2011 release, forge it, they'll always lowball the offer.

My Prius II is the most perfect car I've ever owned. I don't see how there could be an improvement--except maybe replacing the gasoline engine with another battery. 100% electric with the range of a full tank of gas is a worthy goal.

Yesterday, Dave at Prime Toyota in Saco (pronounced sock-oh) Maine, said 2011's will arrive late November or December.

Then again, I counted no less than 62 Prius on their lot... and that's Saco, almost O'Canada, Maine!

Just a thought, but does anyone know approx how long it takes (in Canada) for a vehicle to arrive once you put in an order for one at your dealership? I need mine by April 2011, so if I ordered it in January, would that be soon enough?
I know I could just ask my dealer, but thought someone might have previous experiences with this.
BTW....I'll be ordering a BP II, no frills.
