I have 2 odometer numbers: the first number shows on the display for 1-2 seconds after powering the car on. My number is 7253 miles, and it has a little wrench next to it. after 1-2 seconds that number goes away and then 2834 miles appears in its place for the duration of the trip. (And this number grows obviously) what’s the difference between these odometer numbers? and which one should I follow to get the oil changed? also-How many miles do you go before an oil change on your prius?
Number with the wrench is your next service mileage. Number that grows is your actual car mileage (or trip odo if you have it on that) Per manual for Gen 5, oil change interval is every 10 000 miles or 12 months. Every 5 000 miles is tire rotation and general check or 6 months I think. "Heavy" use is 5k or 6 months oil change. I did my first oil change at 5k since I mostly used the gas engine the entire time but am now looking at 10k interval from now on since I am mostly using EV. If you go to the dealer for an oil change, make sure they fill it properly.
