… blustery morning, here in the southern California high desert! Harrowing drive, ferrying the two-seater crosstown, to the Wayne & Dave's Automotive, this morning -- no brakes.

Servicing the automatic garage door Saturday, pulling the cars into the driveway, SURPRISE! No brakes on the two-seater! Brake pedal, straight to the floorboard. Nearly broadsided my faithful daily driver, my '04 Ruthiemobile!

Fine time I would have had of it, explaining to the insurance company how I managed to crash two of my own cars, exactly the same time! 250 billion in losses from the great democrat Los Angeles wildfire weenie roast? Not a particularly opportune moment, filing an insurance claim!

Thank my lucky stars the two-seater had a cable actuated e-brake for which to woe it down, 16 inches or so penultimate to impact.

Dropped off the two-seater to the shop, this morning. Plotted a route through residential streets, staying off the main drags. Hi-lights blaring, hazard lights blinking, the whole way. Of course, we well know what to expect of our fellow man. Don't we?

Sure enough, one of my fellow Americans I chanced upon along the way, in her Volkswagen SUV, decided she'd like testing my resolve, awaiting patiently my 5 mph approach from 100 yards away, for just the right moment, timing it just right, to lurch forward, directly in front of me!

Moral of the story? All people who drive Volkswagen's are, democratz!

Slick evasive maneuver, competition suspension comes in handy, from time to time. Last 300 yards of my slow speed drive, nursed the two-seater the rest of the way to the shop, shiny side up, no crumpled sheet metal, no thanks to my fellow man –

What will your excuses be the next four years? You still can’t answer how you came to vote for someone who tried to overrule the Constitution, raped women, and many more crimes. A lot of people are wondering how your group came to vote for someone so opposed to what you claim your values to be.

Good pardons by President Biden today. Hard to believe James Comer was going to go after the brother.
Then I heard elect didn’t put his hand on the Bibles his supposed wife was holding for him. It is still an oath, Bibles or not. he probably doesn’t know that and thinks he dodged the oath.

Reminds me of my days on the farm. We drove without starters, alternators, brakes, clutches, even leaf springs at times. One time we loaded a half-ton pickup with about 4 tons of grain, and I got a laugh out of the hired man when I said, "With a load like this, makes me kinda wish I had brakes."

    Yeah
Well, the DNC isn't exactly 'smart' all the way around the track - are they???
Otherwise they would not have "Old Yeller'd" their Usta-POTUS and then selected the ONE PERSON in the entire US (besides, maybe BASS) who P45 could BEAT in a stand-up election!!!

Just following @asjoseph lead, so as not to confuse people....

Driving a less than optimal truck on a farm, private property, is one thing, but operating on public streets where someone or something can jump out in front of you is another. IMHO (ie. I'm sure you didn't mean to run over that kid chasing his ball into the streets without looking)

With that type of load, I bet he was on his way to the grain elevator in town, rather than staying on farm property. Of course, "town" in rural Alberta (or Manitoba, where I'm from originally) would consist of a general store combined with a post office, a gas station and one or 2 grain elevators. Not many kids in the "street" (really more of a side road off the main drag), still not recommended on a vehicle with no brakes. Usually the emergency brake was somewhat functional, but not sufficient to stop a full load of grain on short notice. It helped that the entrance to the elevator was a bit above ground level.
