Hi All, You ever notice that sound coming from the driver side footwell after you powered down? After a minute or two, there's this "clunk-clunk sound" and something sliding for a few seconds. What are you doing down there PiP, I want to ask. I'm sure it's a normal routine the card does, but it does worry me that there is some kind of moving part down there that can potentially fail in the future. What is that thing? Thanks, Clunk-Clunk..ssshhh...
never heard the sound yet, better yet, I never paid attention . I would like to find out from other PC participants the origin of it
In the morning, when you first open the driver side door, you should also hear another sound. It sounded like something is winding up.
I suspect it is the vacuum pump generating vacuum so your brake booster will function, despite the fact that there is no engine vacuum available.
Does it go.. GLUG, GLUG, GLUG, GLUG, GLUG, GLUG, GLUG, GLUG? No? Hmmm. Oh, that's the air pump for the brakes on the old GE 80 tonner locomotive out at the railroad museum. It's even louder than the ALCOs. Hmmm? I would tend to agree with those that think it may have something to do with the release of a pressure reservoir for the power assist on the brakes. It would also likely make a sound as it turns on upon entering the car from the drivers door....
My 06 Honda civic hybrid used to make fart noises when I would brake. Always had to explain that issue to my travel companions. iPad ? HD
