    Hi guys,
Last year I stored my prius for 6 months in the winter and just filled the tank and parked it in the garage with a battery tender. This year the gas has 10% ethanol in it so I stored it with about 3 gallons of gas with the battery tender but I think I should put some additive in the gas. Stabul or K100?
    Thanks

I have used Sta-Bil in my cars stored over the winter for several years and I haven't had any problems. I've also used it in lawn mowers, snow blowers, which were not used for ~6 months.

If the car won't be temperature controlled, it's recommended to have a full tank of gas to minimize condensation in the tank. However, the downside is in the spring you have a full tank of "old gas" that you need to burn off. For my performance cars, I kept them in a temperature controlled garage with 1/4 tank of fuel.

The best procedure is to add the Sta-Bil to a half tank of fuel then fill it up (this allows the Sta-Bil to mix throughout the tank). Then run the car for a fuel miles to allow the additive to run through the fuel lines. For the amount of additive, just follow the directions on the container.

    Best of luck.

I swear by Stabil. It goes in every gas tank fill for my lawn mowers, motorcycles, snow blower and power tools - anything that may have gas sitting for longer than a couple of weeks. I have much less problems with carb/fuel systems gunking up than I did in the years before using it. If I was storing my car I would definitely dose it with Stabil. Also I typically store gas tanks full to cut down on condensation effects (no temp controlled garage like that lucky Auto Engineer!).

i use blue stabil, it is special for marine use.
extra protection from ethanol in fuels, which is a big problem in boats.
so if its good for extra ethanol protection, and we got ethanol in our cars gas also, then its probably the best for our cars too.
website says something about a new stabil version coming out, special for ethanol??
until then i will be using the blue stuff.
