If you get more specific about where in the US are located you're going to get help from us... But not knowing which region in the US makes suggestions a bit difficult.
The wrecked license plate says Virginia..... but that doesn't mean much nowadays.....everyone's always moving around and stuff With a vanity plate like that, he can probably just buff it out..
There's likely some minor to moderate frame damage in that impact... It might be salvageable if you're good at bending stuff...
Hi everyone, thanks for the suggestions. Don't think its going to buff out. Entire front support is folded over the motor. Also it doesn't show in the picture, but the entire passenger side is smashed. I'll post another pic later. As for location, I'm in the northern Virginia area. 40 miles west of DC. The tag is a joke. Stands for Prius Mechanical, not mechanic. I do commercial Hvac and use the Prius to do side jobs. I don't know a lot the Prius other than in the year and a half I've had it, I'm impressed. The only things I'd like to have on a new one is a backup camera and a aux input on the radio. Thanks again for your advice. SM-G955U ?
'07 I think was the first year they included back up cameras... Hope you find a good replacement! And if insurance company will let you, pull out the hybrid battery pack to keep. If you get luck and find a Prius with a bad battery pack you could put your old one in and drive it away for a low price.
Thanks for all of your suggestions. It has 310k miles on the original battery pack. Do you think it's still worth keeping? Maybe use it as a core battery if I need a new one? I think I'll look for a 06 or 07. SM-G955U ?
If you have the skill to safely swap packs it's incredibly valuable to have a spare pack that hasn't thrown any warning lights... You have to keep it charged up or swap packs every 6 months or so for it to not decline in health... And if you have a friend who has a Prius and their battery pack dies and an hour later you have your spare pack installed and running in their car while they figure out what they're going to do in the long run you'll earns super mega amounts of friend loyalty points!
Well if your fan of the Prius and you have 10k to spend I would try 3rd gen Prius. Don't buy the 2010 model. Heard they are oil burners and full of engine problems. Try get the newest with lowest miles of course. 3rd Gen just had more power and bigger 1.8l engine. Also I think interior features we're cooler on 3rd Gen. Like power mode, eco mode and pure ev mode. Of course the seats are more plush and the car is a little bigger too. When my 2nd Gen dies, I'm going for a 3rd or 4th gen next. Maybe Lexus CT200H. SM-J737T1 ?
I agree with the Kaptain. I live in your area and just moved up from an '07 to a '12 Plug-In. It has only been a few days of driving, but I really do like the 'newer' one.
Well I would go for another 2nd Gen but try to find one with the lowest miles and maintenance records if possible. If it has under 120k with a good body. I would go for it. These cars run 250-300k with very maintenance. SM-J737T1 ?
