What Secures Rear Plastic Quarter Panels to Body?

Last winter my wife backed into a mound of hard snow, damaging a rear plastic quarter panel. By this I mean the soft plastic "bat wings" of the painted rear bumper that wrap around the sides of the vehicle.

As result of the damage, this rear quarter panel is loose. It flaps noisily in turbulent air when the Prius gets passed by any large truck.

Does any reader know what kind of plastic fastener secures these quarter panels to the steel body?

I have pulled the bat wing outward, looking for a hole or slot in it that passes the fastener, but I see none.

I only dealt with this once, but if I remember correctly it's held on by little clips that can easily pop off... So perhaps your clips were left behind at the place of the collision?

The least expensive fix is to go to a pick-a-part junk yard that has a wrecked Gen2 Prius and pull off that part of the car and grab some clips, as well as learn how it clips and unclips before you apply the fix to your own car.

There's clips and one screw at the front of it. That screw area breaks and leaves only the clips. Pop it back and you'll see black plastic rib that's secured to the car. That piece needs replacing and part number is on it. Screw might be gone too. Look part number up on eBay. I found a aftermarket for under 20 shipped.

It's the parts between the salt lamp. Old sale so I can't pull it up. Screenshot_20181017-135932.jpeg

I just watched a very good YouTube video showing the removal of the rear bumper. Each bumper bat wing is secured to a molded horizontal strip attached to the steel body under the bat wing. The method of securement is two-fold: loops in the bat wing's edge are grasped by claws molded into the horizontal strip. And lastly there is a self-tapping screw with a 10mm head.

The screw can be seen if you look upward from the wheel well.

Thanks for the quick reply, Prius Camper.

How did the salt lamp work out for you? Always wanted to buy one, but never pulled the trigger?

It's a cool lamp, not sure it's pulling anything out of the air though. Lol
    Super cheap on eBay.

It’s plastic tabs. Use a screwdriver to pull the tab out. Then pull the entire plastic tab out
