What part of the headlight is this and bulb size?

There are LED versions of those bulbs that can be used to replace the original incandescent bulbs. .

 

Size T10 or 194 or 168 bulb.

 

There is another similar bulb behind the orange plastic part of the headlight assembly, the side marker light. Some people miss that and it burns out at about the same time. And it is a pain to change.

 

I think of it as a 194 bulb, sometimes called a t10. The LED ones are nice but may only work one way.

 

Can confirm -- 194. I just had to purchase 2 of these, and they are indeed a pain to change.
Driver side has the most access of the 2, the passenger side took me about 45 minutes and the bulk of that time was just trying to blindly get the plug back into the socket & twisted/locked in (if you have smaller hands, you'll have an easier time). Even with the "quick fix" way of unbolting the Coolant Resevoir & moving it out of the way, my hands were still too large for the quick re-install.

Mine went out at the same time -- and they were 194's, as well as the side "parking" bulbs.

 

I have to replace mine too.. Anyone know which LED will fit? I noticed on Amazon some are thicker and longer than stock

 

I have used these Alla bulbs in that 194 bulb socket since the OEM burnt out after about 2-3 years. These give a bluish light main,y in the fore-and-aft direction that is brighter than the OEM and requires less current, and they have never caused a CANBUS error in our vehicle. They last only 1-2 years, however, in my experience and I am now on my second set of them.
Since I had other small LED bulbs melt their plastic sockets due to the heat buildup in the chip circuitry near the base, I chose these as the base looked like it might deal with heat better and be more resistant to heat buildup. The clear plastic directly above these LED bulbs becomes slightly but noticeably warm to the touch after long, nonstop use, and thus I would advise NOT to get higher wattage versions that could conceivably become hot enough to melt the housing. Further, the space from the socket to the plastic housing above it is quite small in the Gen 3 Prius. These will fit, but some of the taller, super-powerful LED bulbs that would fit that socket will NOT fit in that kimited space in my estimation. All that said, I think theese bulbs make our Prius slightly more noticeable to oncoming traffic, particularly in low-light situations, and that is valuable in the congested traffic in our area.
