What is your Highway MPG???

Currently getting around 48-51 MPG at 70 MPH. Hilly highways give me 46-49 MPG at 70.

In March, when car was new, I was getting 46 MPG on the highway at around 65-75 MPH.

Even at 75-80 MPH, I get over 45MPG.

While I was in Michigan, where the speed limit is 70MPH on the expressway and most drive 80, I had the cruise set at 76MPH. I think the lowest my MPG was during the whole trip was 46.2 - my best tank that was highway miles was probably 48.5 MPG at those speeds.

At 70 mph, about 48 mpg.

 

My highway mpg at 63-70 is a consistent 50.4. I get a beautiful solid wall at this number going across my screen with little or no variation. The highway is very flat.

 

In Florida with AC on high I get about 47 to 48 @ 70MPH. Mileage drops to about 45 @ 80 to 85 MPH.

I just had my windows tinted which seems to reduce AC useage. I will be curious to see if it has an impact on mileage.

 

i get around 44mpg city driving, but when i go out on the freeway i get 55mpg! :wink:

I get 50 to 54 MPG on trips that are 80% highway where I can cruise at 65 to70. Bad news is good news, when I hit a bottleneck that causes a slowdown, my mileage goes up.

Recent experience was 47 to 48 mpg at about 70 mph (4.9 to 5 L/100km at 110 kph). Some air conditioning was used, but most of the time we used just the fan.

 

I just bought an used 2008 Prius five days ago with 96000 miles on it. Today, I drove the car from Albany NY to New Haven CT with total of 139 miles and 54.2 mpg. I am very happy with the mpg considering the EPA mpg for this car is only 45 HW and 48 city. Furthermore, I only paid $3800 for the car. So far I am very satisfied with the purchasing.

 

I'm not getting that much. The bars telle I'm between 25 and 50 mpg while doing 55 - 65 mph.
The gauges below says it's about 45 mpg but I saw my gas bars just go down one bar with 5 miles. What's up?

The MPG estimator is usually pretty close over a tank or more. The gas gauge, on the other hand, will give you a decent idea of when you need more gas (when it gets down to one block) but the progress of the gauge isn't consistent, so don't use that for MPG estimates.

I find my highway MPG to be highly weather dependant.
Below 0°F and windy = 35 MPG
Above 0°F but below freezing with wind & freezing rain or snow = 40 MPG
20s & 30s with little wind and no precipitation = 45 MPG
it hasn't been any warmer than that yet since I got the car, but I'd guess it will be 50 MPG or higher in the spring & summer

 

I managed to miss this thread up until now And I have searched for similar threads before.

The numbers in here are way better than mine.
I get a solid wall of 47mpg (5.0l/100km) at 60mph on cruise control.
And 59mpg (4.0l/100km) at 50mph.

I can repeat this almost at will, but only if conditions are perfect: only in summer (above 20C / 68F), on flat roads (we are called the Netherlands for a reason, its the only roads we have) and with no wind.

I stay away from 70mph most of the time because it will drop efficiency close to 40mpg, let alone our old (75mph) or new (81mph) highway speedlimits.

Really makes me think there is something not quite right. I had hoped the new 12V battery would improve this, but it didn't.

 

I don't really get a chance to run the car at 50 mph; most highway driving is done at 70 mph. Most of the tanks that involved at least 85% highway driving have yielded 45.5 to 48 mpg. At 75 mph it drops to 43 to 45 mpg.

Around town is where it's been poor by Prius standards since the car doesn't get a chance to warm up. A lot of very short hops and no chance to leave it turned on between them.
