There have been many reports of problems with the Solara Sirius Kit and the 2006 Prius. The Sirius Kit works in the 2004 and 2005 Prius. The Solara kit is based on a Pioneer Sirius tuner.

It is known that Toyota changed the MFD in the 2006 Prius from an Analog to Digital Display. There have also been some software changes.

The XM kits have been working fine in the the 2006 Prius. Toyota has released the XM intstall Kit for the Prius .

I have a simple question for those 2006 Prius owners who had the Metro or SiriusPrius kits installed and had problems.

    1) what is the configuration of your car?

    Base Audio?

Base Audio with dealer/port installed CD changer.

    JBL Audio

    JBL Audio with Navigation System.

    THanks.

I've got the base audio system in my 2006 package 4 (i.e. no nav, no JBL).
I've upgraded the entire system, save for the factory head unit and Toyota
installed Sirius tuner/antenna. I've got unacceptable static coming through
on the satellite input only (CD/AM/FM all sound great).
Factory sat tuner comes in via the factory plug on the back of the head unit (intended for factory cd changer). Running an MP3 player through the AUX input port in the armrest seems to
    sound fine as well.
I've compiled a list of links (to threads here on PriusChat) discussing this issue...I'll paste them in below
so you can see who else is complaining.
    Cheers,
    Matt

I have the problem with the sirius kit.

my config is Base Audio with dealer/port installed CD changer.
Only the sirius input if affected.

I think I recall a post about the problem clearing up after a head unit replacement (for another problem).

I have a 2006 package 7 with the SiriusPrius kit installed. The static isn't too bad on the music stations, but requires turning down the treble when listening to most talk stations.

I have Sirius radio installed by the dealer. The radio is to the right of my rear view mirror and is controlled by the "AM/SAT" button. I am unable to see any of the information regarding the songs or artists. Also, the only way to find out what station I am listening to is to lock it in as a preset. The word antenna is always flashing.

Sirius blames the Toyota dealership. Toyota is blaming Sirius and saying the "guts" of the radio are no good and that it must be replaced. It was supposed to take a week for the new radio to come in, but they said they are backordered becasue so many people are having this problem.
