What is necessary to maintain Toyota warranty?

    The minimum is keep oil changes up to date. Each 8000 km or 5000 miles?

    Are the battery inspections in the maintenance a warranty item?

    Is visual brake inspection sufficient or is taking the brakes apart necessary?

    Any other item?

    Hi David, as you might expect, Toyota's warranty varies all over the world.

    We do not know where in the world you are. There are several ways for you to let us know, but our ability to guess is limited. (I put my location in the Location field, but you can just post it in this thread.)

    There's a Toyota warranty booklet for your area in the owner's packet and it gives you everything you need to know.

    Recommend that whatever you do to maintain the car put it on toyota.com/owners site. Then you can keep track of all the maintenance and the dealer puts everything they do to the car on that site also.

    ^ Unfortunately the Canadian Owners Site doesn't allow owners to add maintenance. No great loss. :rolleyes:

    I use both the Toyota Owner's site and an Excel spreadsheet to keep up with my maintenance intervals and expenses. I keep a file folder with all expenses other than the standard oil and filters.

    If Toyota ever needs proof of maintenance I have the information plus whenever I sell the car I plan to hand this information over to the buyer.

    If you don't do the minimum manufactures specified services, then the manufacturer has a reason to deny you coverage if that service might have adversely effected to failed part.

    A common misconception is that it is up to the manufacturer to prove that the consumer's lack of maintenance caused to failure. In reality, if the manufacturer denies a claim for lack of maintenance, it becomes the consumers burden to prove they didn't cause the problem. They must do that either through arbitration or the courts.
