Your missing the "snorkel" which is part of your air intake piping for your engine. This part missing would have no effect on your A/C operation.

No relation , that piece just adds some length to the air intake.
I just saw your question on another link so may add there about p0453

Is this a salvage? In any case: Pay a Prius technician (most of them are at Toyota dealers; if you were in San Francisco you could go to Luscious Garage, an independent shop of Prius fanatics) to diagnose everything wrong with and missing from your car. If it has those gross problems there's probably a lot more.

And I'll bet the seller didn't give you any kind of warranty, either. If it's not too late, reverse the purchase. An un-inspected salvaged Prius can be a nightmare and yours already sounds bad. If you can't undo the purchase get it to a dealer right away to see what it needs. Good luck.

Salvage is not the way to go even if 6K was not alot i worked as a adjuster, if it hit you will be lucky to get 1K,if you total it as they will not pay for anything on a salvage car, it comes up in Big red letters on a vin #, I bought a mint 04 for under 10K from a dealer.. good luck you will need it:(

How could they not pay just because the car had a history of salvage, not all salvages are accidents some are stolen.
if the car is repaired and in in perfect condition you should be able to sue the insurance company to get the car's worth in case it is totaled.

The car will never be worth what you even paid, most ins companys will not insure a salvage, those who do as soon as you have a claim will say its a salvage, sorry we cant do much, I never paid a claim more then 1.5k for a salvage accident, also if your not lucky the will even reject your claim..

I will never buy a salvage because of that, not worth the trouble.

how many miles are on it.. I'm not sure if the salvage title would have anything to do with it but I believe NY is a CA emissions state..
The emissions components have a longer warranty than the standard 3 yr/36000 miles...
In California some of the components are 15yr /150,000 miles..
might want to look into it..

good point it has 60K miles
but not sure if the alavge history kills the warranty or not.

I spoke with Geico and they say they will gladly insure a car with salvage history and they will cover the cost of replacement of the car completly and not just 1- 2K$ so I will keep this baby once I fix it up put some nice wood trim and leather seat covers...
so back to the main error if some one has an input I am all ears.

just to clear up the warranty issue

Toyota says that once salvage there is no more warranty but I dont know if they will actually check once the title is clean.

as for warranty passed 60K mile warranty is just on the hybrid stuff..

the federal EPA has a long list of items that are covered for up to 10yr/100,000 miles.. and in CA emission states they are 15yr/150,000 miles.

Basically anything to do with emissions or smog..

I'm not sure if the salvage title kills these since they are federally mandated..

also I thought once a car is salvaged it can never be made clean...

    from the toyota site..

EmissionsCoverages vary under Federal and California regulations. Refer to applicable Owner's Warranty Information booklet for details.

well they didn't accept the error code under the emmission and warranty
116$ for diagnosis and then they will tell me how much to fix .. if they change the vapor sensor that alone is like 280$
the nicest part is NY tax lol

if someone know a good prius tech in new york please let me know.

I will clear the salvage title in NJ and bring the clean title and register in NY.

do you have a link to the EPA website regulations for warranty etc?
