I had these sticky oil marks on my car last week, I washed them off and this week I see them again. They appear to come out somewhere from the left front wheel. Is my brake fluid leaking and spun off and stick to the body of the car?

Hot asphalt from the road. You can buy mudguards for all four wheels.

I see, they just repaved my street. It makes sense now. I already bought the mudguards, just didn't have a chance to install them yet. Thanks very much.

You had the solution before you came up with the question.

I've always thought they were grease threads from grease that has come off of big trucks. The tires go through the grease and strings develop and fly all over. They smoosh much easier than asphalt, and act like heavy grease when I run my finger through them.

These look darker than the grease, but asphalt would require a petroleum distillate for removal.

I have had the same streaks... as mentioned, likely fresh asphalt w/ rain.

Clay-bar works great on completely removing it.
