I'm curious of all you folks who are purchasing this car what demographic you all are in as far as age and needs (ie kids, no kids, etc)

I'll be honest, I'll be 32 in January and am strongly considering owning one of these and selling my trailblazer thatt just turned 8 last week. I'm not married tthough I'd say a good chance I will be within the next 18 months. No kids yet but maybe within the next 3 years, I do not know.

I just like the roomyness (i'm 6'3 235), the mpg (tired of 17.5 in the tb), the cool gadgets and technology, and its big enough to haul my ski gear, vacation bags, and my tailgating equipment and get me there at 45 mpg. I think the v 5 even has a classy sophisticated feel to it.

Am I the only person under 50 and single whos thinking of buying one of these? I've mentioned it to a couple of my friends atr work and I've gotten a couple prius jokes.

Wife and I are both 32 with a 5 month old. I feel like we are the targeted demographic for the car...

I'm petty sure there will be many v owners that are the young (30s), starting a family type who aren't ready or have the space for a mini van. My wife and I are 34 and 35 respectively with a 1 year old. This was basically our only choice of a family car. We toyed with the idea of a Jetta TDI wagon briefly, but decided against diesel. Everything else just didn't come close in terms of MPG, interior space, and compact outter dimensions.

Or: Age is a state of mind....

But i am 50 and like to have the roominess, if it's only because of the sportclubs of the kids where the parents drive them to other clubs.

I am a 42yo, single, father. I still don’t see the Prius as a wagon. Most people looking at it don’t either. I just can’t stand cars with no room. Groceries, camera gear, camping, etc. I need space.

35 years old, single male. I traded a pickup for the v when I decided I was tired of 15mpg for the 3 days/year I actually needed a truck. I'm basically using it as a high-efficiency commuter with plenty of cargo room.

I am 49 married with two kids ages 14 and 8. We often have five people in the car. When I was car hunting, my requirements were to find the most economical car capable of carrying five people in comfort. The Prius v comfortably met the requirements.

I first saw the Prius v at the New York Auto show last April. I sat in dozens of cars at the show and nothing else seemed to even come close to meeting my requirements. The afternoon spent at the show was really helpful in making up my mind.

45 single woman with a 12 yo daughter. For 6 years I drove a 2004 trailblazer, loved the car, but when I started having transmission problems I traded it for a 2011 elantra. I hated the elantra so much I traded 2 weeks ago for a prius v. The prius v has all the space as the trailblazer with an average 43 mpg on the first tank. Now that I know how to drive the prius, I am hoping for better on the second which I am already averaging 46. Good luck with your decision. My only recommendation is if you test drive, drive it for at least 30 minutes, hwy, back streets, left and right turns. This was the mistake I made with the elantra, I didn't drive it enough to see the vision issues. After test driving the prius (3 test drives, once at night and twice during the day) I knew this would be my next car.

Klob, what happened with your trailblazer? if you don't mind me asking, how many miles? Was it used for towing a lot? Off roading? Mine is almost at 125K and its been rock solid. Tthats one reason i'm hesitant to make a change cause its in great condition, reliable, rides good etc. I'm just tired of 18 mpg.

If I have it 5 more years I wont be making patyments but I can count on 325 a month in gas. If I sell tit and go prius v I'll drop to about 125 a month in gas but a 460 to 520 payment for 5 years. Then it would drop obviously to justt a low gas bill. Plus at some point I figure I'm likely to have a major repair bill come along.

I'm just not sure what to do. Its sort of like a net 275 a month more now to save a net 200 a month down the road. Thats assuming gas prices remain constant. If they rise again then the savings is a little better.

I'm 56 and my wife is 45. I have two grown Sons... so it's just pretty much me, my wife and our dog for most of the time. So no young kids, no car seats, no soccer balls or hockey equipment. We just like having space... we need space! Golf clubs, the dog, outdoor stuff, stacking returnable recycling stuff. I'm also a pretty big guy... so roominess is important for shear comfort. The v fits our bill just fine. My current car is an 03' Matrix. I love that car... so for me I see the v as simply another matrix with more cargo space and much better gas mileage. How could you go wrong?

I’m 54 years old and decided to buy the Prius V Wagon for the extra room. Our previous car was the 2008 Prius, so we’re sacrificing mpg for the extra room. My wife is driving it on her first long distance trip and loaded it down and it’s almost like having a SUV when it comes to space.

This feed is sounding more like a lonely heart column.
My wife and I, 34 and 36 respectively bought an '08 model a week ago and although I haven't had chance to drive it myself yet my wife loves it.
Hoping to start a family next year and wanted a medium sized economical car.
Our previous car was a Yaris and was a bit on the small size even for us and our two west highland whites.
I'm new to this site and thought this forum would be an easy ice breaker. Hello.

I'm 48, partner is 49, a 17-yr old son, and two large dogs. I just traded in my Corolla. I was looking for something with more space and good gas mileage. I'd rather pick a tried and true brand than a new upstart in the technology.

Maybe you just need to change the crowd that you're hanging out with.
If you want to attract jacked up F-350 king cab dually chicks then get a big truck.

I'm 65 my wife is 62. We live in a rural area and need some room for our trips to COSTCO and Wally World. Love the mpg, we have owned Suv's for the last 20 years and won't miss the 17-18 mpg. We have had ours for 20 days now and are still loving it, we are half way through our second tank of gas.

28 and 26. We have a 4 month old who comes with alot of gear (stroller, car seat etc). We don't own a v yet but are seriously considering trading our 2010 Prius for a v. We'd be taking a mileage hit with the trade but would love the extra space, especially since we plan on having another little one in the next year or two.

35 and 36. We tend to flip between small cars (07 mini/08 prius) and larger cars (12 prius v/05 Jeep Liberty diesel). Still have our crewcab F350 diesel, so dont need too big of a car. Wife wanted something bigger than alfa romeo and liked the comfort of the prius v. Nice car so far.
