We don't need a group to hate, we can just like our car choices.

 

He was likely completely unaware that was driving past a Prius.

I see the sticker as the "my dog is smarter than your honor student" ones; a protest against smugness at most.

 

You should have a sticker saying "With the money I save driving a hybrid I can afford to date your wife whilst you're out fishing" or something equally obnoxious.

Either that or just ignore them. Each to their own.

 

There is a certain amount of crazy driving we all have to suffer. If you don't speed, it gets crazier. If you drive an obvious hybrid like a Prius, it gets crazier still. And there are a number of people that don't let the facts get in the way of their POV...if talk shows and forums they frequent say ALL Prius drivers are socialists hipsters, it MUST be true. {sigh}

 

They're just looking to get a rise out of you.

Ignore them.

Prius drivers sometimes get picked on because they're too tightly wrapped.

You sure your not from Virginia? You describe my area to a "T" that's "T" for redneck trucks everywhere! It's amazing how much they spend on these trucks (lift kits, wide wheels, loud mufflers, fancy stereo and speakers etc. etc.) then go home and park them next to a broken down single wide with a bunch of kids running around the yard with practically nothing.

 

Gas is too cheap.

If there are plenty of people driving gas guzzlers doing stupid stuff - it's cheap.

Most of the wheels people talk about have stuff that waste gas.

If I were President with a mandate, I'd slap enough tax at the pump to change that (while lowering income tax citizens would break-even)

No, it would not put this masses driving stuff like this...



...but there would be a lot fewer $50K+ pimped up doolies doing childish stuff, beating our roads down faster (again, why we need a higher gas tax - to fix the roads).

 

$3.09/gallon locally and it isn't even November.

In Manassas , Virginia, I saw a Prius with numerous conservative bumper stickers including NRA membership, but one that broke me up said something like:

"Keep honking; I used the gas money I save to buy more ammo!"

But net bottom line is all kinds of folks drive these cars IMO, so stereotyping is pretty useless.

Hipster is a 20-something "stylish" person. Kinda like a hippy in political viewpoint (pro-massive government), but not wearing long hair.

The U.S. Constitution says only the elected representatives in congress have the power to make laws. Not presidents.

Also gasoline tax is a regressive tax that disproportionally harms the poor more than the rich (who would just keep driving gas guzzlers). The income tax is a progressive tax that is much fairer (the rich have more so they can afford to pay more, while the poor pay nothing). Your idea would likely drive more poor persons into bankruptcy, as they would not have the money to cover their sudden tax increase.
