Weather stripping door and hatch replacements or addon

Any luck with using specific weather stripping to reduce noise in the car? I was thinking about replacing the weatherstripping on the doors or strategically installing some aftermarket ones to reduce the wind noise on the doors.... and maybe the constant and horrific dirt on the sills. However, all these aftermarket ones with stickums seem like a shoddy method as they will undoubtedly release shortly after installing.
