I've got my prius two days ago from dealer, but I'm living in HK, so I've waited for only 3 months to get the car.
Unfortunately, the Malfunction Indicator Lamp lits up last night, and it's still under 100 miles of running.

I'm wondering if it's the same as the Check Engine Warning Light as described by some other threads in this forum? (The Malfunction Indicator Lamp in my prius looks like a bath tub symbol)

It's most-likely the same thing you've read about - excess sealents in the exhaust system that need to burn off. Try driving for another 50 miles or so and see what happens. Try and get it up to freeway speeds, then vary the speed a bit.

Also make sure the gas cap is on tight enough that it clicks.

If it's just a warning light by itself on the upper dash, it's not an immediate concern. If you get the large red triangle and a warning on the computer screen, it's much more urgent.

It's not the oil level indicator is it?

    Thanks Dave!

I've make sure the gas cap is on tight, but I still have only been on the freeway once for about 10 miles at 60-70mph.

I agree that it's not an immediate concern, but I'm worrying about the long-term reliabilty of my prius. My concept is if a machine works fine in the beginning, most likely it will work well for quite some time.

The yellow warning light appeared in the upper dash, named "Malfunction Indicator Lamp" according to the manual. This icon is right above the SRS Warning Light when powering on the car.
