    Hi everyone,

Can someone give me some leads on how to obtain and install a backup camera on my 2005 Prius (non-NAV) with a CAN-view V3? (I didn't have any luck searching PC)

I see that Coastal Etech has a rear view license plate camera, but there's no indication on whether it would work with a CAN-view. Altho' I successfully ordered an EV-switch of them a couple of years ago, it sounds like their customer service has since declined (http://priuschat.com/index.php?showtopic=29730)

Are there any other options for a backup camera? Would it plug into the CAN-view or into the MFD?

    TIA,

    Paul.

Do you have an after-market backup camera and a CAN-view?

    ^bump.

Any solution to this? I've been searching everything on these forums. I'm guessing I'll have to use the lockpick?

What about if you have NAV but you don't have the camera or parking sensors?...Can you add those on after?

All the plugs and software is there in the car. It's just a matter of someone figuring out what type of camera is to be used to plug in where.

I'll check my trusty Bentley guide to see if I can figure out anything for the DIY section

Blah, well i was hoping the 2005 had the same computer system as the 2006-2009 but no. Now I understand why people have to buy the CANview to get certain features.
You should be able to get a small camera that outputs RGB signals and plug it into your CANview. I do not know about the Coastal Etech but $375 seems silly for a license plate backup cam.

As far as I can tell, the 2004-2005 MFD doesn't have the input needed to install a camera like the 2006-2009. Not sure about the parking sensor, haven't found it in the schematics yet.
