Has anyone had any experience or information related to this video input unit? I'd be interested in using it with my portable DVD player or iPod Video.

I've never seen that before, very cool. I'd like to hear any review/opinions on this as well. I wonder how difficult the install is and if it would effect the pre-existing backup camera on the '06s and '07s.

Note this interface seems to be for the Analog MFDs, not the Digital MFDs introduced with the 2006 Prius.

apparently, the only legal video that could be displayed while driving would be to display GPS Navigation map such as the output from the Garmin GVN 52.

Actually its just the opposite. The 2004/2005 MFD is digital (RGBS), but the 2006 has an analog input for the camera. That gadget on eBay only has RGBS output capability, so it will only work with a 2004 or 2005 model.

RGBS are analog signals (Red, Green, Blue, Sync). The camera input is composite NTSC. The 2006 use digital signals for the video coming from the NAV. Probably a DVI signal much like that provided by today's video cards to today's LCD monitors.

It uses GVIF digial signal. See discussion: http://priuschat.com/index.php?showtopic=25901&hl=gvif

My bad. I don't know why I was thinking RGB was a digital signal.
However, I standby my claim that the gadget on eBay will only work with 2004-2005 MFD's. Also, I think it has yet to be proven that the NAV signal is true GVIF. A lot more testing is needed, and I'm not sure how valuable that will be anyway, for those of use without a NAV input.

Did anyone else notice that the video screen shots in that auction are photoshopped? Badly too.
