Verizon LG VX8100 Bluetooth

I called Verizon several times about this before getting the LG VX 8100, and finally after going through several people, got someone that knew about the situation, he said that they have disabled that part of the phone so that they don't have to worry about people using that feature to share music and other files ect...said eventually they hoped the problem would be fixed where Verizon phones could allow phone book transfers while protecting other information Verizon didn't want transfered or shared. I still got the phone and love it in spite of the problem which frustrated me too.
I just got the car Thursday and typed in my phone book last night. I hope you find an easier solution, right now I just hit speed dial on my phone if I need to make a call and it connects right up with the Bluetooth. I think like you said you can call speed dial from the cars menu if your #'s are programed in it, right? Is there a feature where you record a voice memo of your contacts names so you can call while driving by voice? Still learning and will figure this all out by trial and error and reading my new owners manual all day Monday, yeah!!!

 

What about the Motorola Razr with Verizon serivce??? Does anyone know if that works with the 2006 Pruis???

 

There is a way to override the NAV and BT blockout, but it isn't by tapping the MFD. There a couple of purple speed sensor wires under the A/C vent cover to the right of the MFD. Cut them and install a switch on each one (or use a DPDT switch and combine them). Simply flip the switch when you need to enter information and flip it back when you're done. Some have used a magnetic switch so it's not as obvious.

You can take a look at http://www.darelldd.com/ev/prius_speed_wire.htm (scroll to the bottom) to see the wires. To get to them you remove the lower glove compartment and the A/C vent to the right of the MFD. If you just want to do the BT, that can be done from the top via the speaker grill (also on that page).

Nobody has responded to my question, but Coastal made two types of NAV overrides, one with BT override and one without. The former may work (although it's out of stock), but I would need to know what the display looks like when the DEST button is pushed the first time to be sure.

 

Hopefully this helps although it's a little time consuming (but worth it when it's all done). I found that I can make calls while driving now with my LG VX 8100 since I added all of my contacts into the speed dial list, as well as recorded a voice memo of each of thier names so all I have to do is hit the speech comand button and say "dial by name" ect, and can call while driving. I didn't think it would be so easy with this phone because I heard there were so many issue's, but it works great once you get past having to input your contacts into the system. I know it's a pain but it's really great once you get it set up.

Yes, it works. No, you can't transfer the phonebook without major hacking of the phone. Mine is hacked to allow it, but it's almost as fast to use the MFD to enter the contact info, so I usually just do that.

Voice, battery, signal meters work, dialing works, answering works.

 

I called LG and they told me the phone won't do the data transfer. :angry: Wish I had know before I got it.

I have the phone manager on the big computer and will try to put it on the hand held and transfer it one of these days.

Otherwise if you can get your most frequently called contacts to call you when you are in the car you can save the numbers without too much trouble.
