$ Value OF Brand New Stock Wheels & Tires ?

Everyone is trying to get rid of the stock wheel/tires like you and me, so, I guess there is not much market value

 

A guy here in San Diego has been trying to sell his stock rims and hubcaps (no tires) for $550 for quite some time with no luck. Another guy has been trying to sell his hubcaps for $100 for 9 months, and mentions that he's offering the rims, too. I think there's probably somebody out there who'd want them, but that would probably be someone who didn't even think to look for them "used" online.

 

It'll cost you time and money to split them. Just sell them complete for $400 - $500. Someone will need them

 

If you take a chance you might split them up and sell them as full size spares. Just an idea.

 

I must have misunderstood your question, asking for the going rate for 15" stock wheels.

 

I've thought about upgrading, too, and then I'll be in the same situation. I guess you're saying that you wouldn't sell them for $400-$500 because you'd consider that giving them away. But then where does that leave you? From what I've seen, I don't think they're easy to sell even at $500, or even $400. So, what I'm wondering for myself, too, is if you don't sell them for cheap, what on Earth do you do with them?

 

Would 60 cents on the dollar be over $1,000? I don't think anyone could ever get more than about $650 for the wheels, hubcaps and tires together. The ones I've seen for sale here at $450 to $500 have been for sale for quite a while, and that's in an area where hybrids are popular and highly incentivized (state rebates and HOV decals). Plus there are at least 40 million people within about a 150 mile radius. That's what makes me think they just aren't worth much of anything. I wouldn't want to store mine, so I figure I might end up keeping one or two as spares and literally giving away the others. Keeping them for 6 years means you'll have tires that are already older than manufacturers recommend using them.

 

The rim probably cost $500 from Toyota, so 4 rims will be $2000 plus tires and hub caps. $.60 on the dollar would be a wet dream.

 

I think at $800, you'll probably get to keep them.

I bought a set of near new 17" touring wheels with tires from a 2016 for $400. The seller started at $800 and reduced it by $100 every month.

 

I just checked and the upgraded rims from Toyota, which is what I would upgrade to, cost $199 each from my dealer. They use the same tires, same lug nuts and same TPMS sensors. So that would leave me with the rims and hubcaps if I swapped out the tires and TPMS sensors. I think I'd be amazingly lucky to get even $350 for the rims and hubcaps (no tires or TPMS). You're right in that somebody out there would want them (for snow tires or some other reason), but the problem would be finding that person.

 

The (new) rims are retailing for $220 apiece (US, plus shipping) through McGeorge Toyota, and the wheel covers are $58 apiece.

Me, too. I'm talking about selling the stock ones and upgrading to the 10-spoke premium wheels. I know some don't like them, but I would never go aftermarket. I may not get them at all. You're right. It doesn't cost anything to keep something listed on craigslist or backpage.
