If you mean what is now called the Prius Five (to distinguish it from the new Prius v), my 2010 has a compact spare, 17" I assume.
thanks but I'm looking for the specific spare size info for cars that came with the 17 OEM wheels. is it T135/80D16 or?
Went out and looked for ya, mine is size T135/80D16 101M, manufactured by Yokohama. I may purchase a full size rim and make full size spare and in order to have a 5 tire rotation.
Good luck fitting the full size spare under the storage tray while keeping the storage tray without modifying the storage tray.
Thanks if I did decide to do that and it did not fit I was going to just remove the storage tray? Have you tried to put a full size tire in there or have you had to use spare and store your flat?
The factory 17" is expensive ($500 a pop), making it not worth it just to be able to do a 5 tire rotation. Save your money for 3-4 new tires instead. However, if you decide to purchase a full size rim, you can still keep the temporary spare tire for emergency use. Just keep the 5th rim in the garage for the actual rotation.
I have my 17" wheel in the spare tire area right now and it doesn't completely fit. I suppose I'll have to remove the styrofoam padding at the bottom to make it fit. Also, once it sits in the wheel well you cannot use the tray.
The spare is a "space saver" spare, so if the standard wheel/tire fits in the same spot, it's not much of a space saver.
