Has anyone obtained the Utah Clean Fuel – Clean Air license plate? This plate allows the Prius to use the Express Lane of I-15 with a single driver.

According to DMV, a clean special fuel tax certificate (TC-596) must be submitted to obtain the plate. As with many government agencies you are just pointed to someone else – the problem is no one knows where or how to obtain the TC-596.

    Anyone know????

    Thanks,

I don't know. I was turned off to this by the 85 bucks it costs per year to have! Thanks Utah, for charging an extra 85 bucks to year to my registration fee for having a Clean vehicle. Freakin morons!

I just got the plate this week!! You are right. No one in the office knows how to process these documents. I finally figured it out. You need to first obtain a document from UDOT. Here's the link <http://dmv.utah.gov/licensespecialplates.html#cleanfuel> Scroll down to "C-Plate"
It's pretty easy and once you receive the document from UDOT, bring it to your local registration office. Then you pay 15$ and get you new plate immediately. If the staff in your local office are not familiar with C Plate, print the webpage out and bring it with you when you go to the office (it took the lady in Logan's office 15 mins and 4 phone calls to finally figure out how to process the paperworks and the fee).
