Anyone using their Prius Prime as a generator? Anyone using more than 2kw? I found using the Prius Prime and HV inverter connection to the hv battery I could get up to 5kw power out until the battery needed engine recharging. Then the max dropped to below 4kw. But that's better than the 1kw I could safely get off the 12v system.
By the way, the gadget in the photo is for sale from Randy's company, PlugOut Power. Through kind of a long story, I have ended up with two (secondhand) of the similar, older products (one 2kVA, one 3kVA split phase) that used to be offered by Randy's earlier company, ConVerdant Vehicles. I have not had a real job for them yet, but I like the idea. There is a thread here on PriusChat collecting a lot of information on the general topic of getting power out from a hybrid's high-voltage system.
Randy told me these devices, although great, don't work on the latest versions Prius Prime RAV4. That's really sad, as that's their largest battery to date which would give the largest amount of the backup power.
