Used PiP cheaper than regular? Why?

    A PiP wasn't really on my radar. In my case, the added cost of a PiP wouldn't be worth the difference.

    By accident, I stumbled on this:

    Stephen Wade Nissan - 2013 Toyota Prius Plug-in - JTDKN3DP3D3048146

    $15k for a 30k mile PiP (base) is about $2000 *less* than a Prius Two sells for around here. What am I missing?

    maybe the market is pricing in more expensive battery to replace?

    this is quite common. one thing you're missing is the spare tyre. another is the under hatch floor storage. but you get a few options over the 2 with heated seats and mirrors and upgraded audio, wheels, etc.

    the reason for the better price is the starting price. toyota was dumping them as low as 25k new, and some people were buying them as low as 22k. depreciation from there gets you to 15k.
    think of it like the current gen 4 market. can't sell one if your life depends on it, so dealers start dumping to make room on their lots and toyota starts dumping to keep the factories humming. it's a fabulous deal if you can get it.
