Turn signal wierdness - flasher relay?

Our kid was driving our 2009 and discovered she had no turn signals. She called me and I asked her to check the 4-way flashers, and she reported that they worked.

After that the turn signals worked too.

I'm guessing that the flasher relay is going and that the somewhat more direct circuit for the 4-ways provided a little more oomph and got the relay un-stuck. Does this make sense, or is this a random drive-down-the-road thing and a coincidence with an intermittent fault?

Time to replace the relay proactively?

    Thanks

Yes sounds like you could mess with the relay unless it's controlled by the body control module and there is no relay I've never really looked never had a problem with the Gen 2 turn signals so other than changing all the bulbs we've done nothing to that at all but I would suspect the flasher relay if it has such a thing I would get a modern one that could work with LEDs if I choose to put those in other than that pretty much nothing to it usually there's dedicated flasher relays for imports and Asian cars and what have you but I don't know the specifics on the generation 2 Prius as far as if it has an individual flasher relay or whether it's controlled by the BCM or body control module
