Is there a way to pop the trunk without turning the car off, releasing the key from holder, getting out and opening it from outside? This is probably a terribly stupid question but I've recently discovered this oddity and thought I'd ask -no matter how simple it may sound. Thank you!

Well, other that having your wife get out and opening it for you, no!

You would think a interior trunk release would not have been that hard to add to the car. After all, they managed to put in a Gas Door opener and a Hood/Bonnet release in there! :D

Hood's got a secondary latch; gas filler pipe has a cap. Be kind of exciting to have a way to have the trunk just open up under way. I think James Bond had an Astin-Martin that did something like that.

Joking aside, you can't be asking for that, and besides, all the doors lock once you're in motion. Once you're stopped, two pushes on the fob unlock all the doors. (You still have to touch the big rubber pad to open the hatch.) But that avoids the scenario where you accidentally walk away from the car with the lid cracked open just enough to tempt a thief.
