    So pros, will ANY code set off the triangle of death or the turtle?
    Check engine light would be minor set of codes?

    Can you get one without the other?

    Is there a difference between "major and Minor "codes as far as
    the turtle or T of Death?

    Yes the battery ECU cleared up my problem it seems.

    In other brand rigs codes can be set but check engine lite may not
    come on. { I think?}

    Thanks for sharing your knowledge. You have help me save lots of $$!!

    The master warning red triangle light will come on when the Prius has a problem. This does not necessarily mean that a DTC was logged. For example, if the gear selector is in D and you open the driver's door, the light may appear.

    The check engine light will come on when the engine ECU logs a DTC.

    The turtle light will come on when the traction battery ECU wants to restrict power drawn from the traction battery. Typically this is because the battery has insufficient SOC or is overheated. It is not necessary for a DTC to be logged in order for this light to appear.

    Warning icons may appear in the MFD, if a problem occurs which impacts the electric steering, traction battery, or hybrid vehicle system. In that case you would expect a DTC to be logged.

    I am not sure what is your definition of "major" vs. "minor" DTC. If by "minor" you mean that the car can continue to be driven indefinitely without repair, then you cannot determine that simply by looking at the warning lights which may or may not appear. Further investigation of the vehicle's symptoms and fluid levels, as well as some thought and judgment are required.
