Pardon my non-techie dumb question. My new 2021 Prime LE came with this "free trial" for AT&T wifi in the vehicle. It works fine for my Android smartphone, mostly, but I can't figure out how to connect other devices to the wifi. There must be a password that I do not know about. I am embarrassed that I have no idea how my phone got connected to the car. During the first half hour of delighted ownership, someone took my phone and did something, but it's all a blur.
I don't have it but I found this "generic" document: What if I forget my Wi-Fi password for Wi-Fi Connect?
Yes, it works. Thanks a million. I have explored many menus and Help documents, but somehow missed that one.
Why not use your phone as the hotspot for other devices? Share a mobile connection by hotspot or tethering on Android - Android Help
Maybe because the first 2GB is free. Or you don't want to share the cellular connection of your phone with other people in the car who may want to connect to WiFi. Or like me, who do not have unlimited cellular data plan on the phone. I still use a pay-as-you-go plan on my Android. It cost $0.06/MB of data. In the past 10+ years of having this plan on my Android, I have not used more than a few dollars/mo for all the cellular data. But yeah, whatever the reason, the WiFi hotspot after the free trial period is not that cheap. For the current cost listed below, I would rather have an unlimited data SIM on my phone. I never spend that much time in the car, so, I will never pay for it. $35/month for 2GB $50/month for 4GB $70/month for 8GB
I suppose a case could be made for carpools and perhaps kids in the back seats with iPads or as already said those in the car whom you don't want to share your data allowance or hot spot password. I'm sure there is one or two geezers out there who don't have smart phones.
